To preserve the rich heritage of Kashmiri handicraft
Indian Institute of Carpet Technology (IICT) has been working on digitization of old traditional carpet design in digitizing the form of manually written script (Taleem).This was disclosed by Director Indian Institute of Carpet digitizing Technology (IICT), Mr. Zubair Ahmad Mir said while giving feedback to Chief Secretary Madhav Lal today. Inspecting the functioning of the IICT and Craft Development Institute at Nowshera, the Chief Secretary, Mr. Madhav Lal said that modern technology will further facilitate designing and development of handicrafts in a big way.He has underlined digitizing the importance of handicrafts in the economic welfare of Jammu and Kashmir, adding that the new trends in association with old heritage needs to be propagated to expand the market for the world famous Kashmiri handicrafts.
